Control catalog permissions

Choose whether a teammate can view or edit artists, labels, releases, and catalog data.

What this guide covers

Choose whether a teammate can view or edit artists, labels, releases, and catalog data.

Team access lets collaborators work inside the same workspace without sharing the owner’s credentials. Permissions can separate catalog, distribution, analytics, financial, revenue, and team-management responsibilities.

Before you start

  • Invite each person with their own email.
  • Decide what they actually need to view or edit.
  • Use view-only access when editing is unnecessary.
  • Treat financial and royalty visibility as sensitive access.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Open the teammate’s access settings.

  2. 02

Set Catalog to the level required for their role.

  3. 03

Use view-only access when the teammate should not change catalog records.

  4. 04

Save the permission update and ask the teammate to refresh their workspace. Confirm the permission change affects only the intended teammate and workspace scope.

Check your work

  • The invitation went to the intended person.
  • Role and permissions match their responsibility.
  • Artist or label scope is limited appropriately.
  • Former team members no longer have access.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Sharing the owner password.
  • Giving broad admin access for a narrow task.
  • Leaving financial access enabled after responsibilities change.
  • Forgetting that catalog scope can also affect analytics visibility.

What happens next

Review permissions whenever your team or roster changes and remove access that is no longer required.

If the result on screen does not match what this guide describes, stop before creating duplicate catalog records or repeating a financial action. Use the visible status and error information when contacting NORTH support.
